the little shepherd couldn't sleep that night
the sheep were loud and the moon was white
he was hunkered down with his staff and cloak
when a heavenly voice the stillness broke:
"Don't shiver and shake or be afraid
for tonight your Savior in a manger is laid
This news is GREAT; it will bring great joy
for God has sent this baby boy.
You'll find Him soon in David's town -
swaddled tight - no robes, no crown.
Just a baby? Nay, He's Messiah! Lord!
And shall by all men be adored!"
An army of angels filled up the sky;
their worship rang out like the ocean's cry.
The little shepherd knelt in awe -
i wish i'd seen what that shepherd saw.
